Description

The Director of Major Gifts is responsible for creating a climate conducive to giving by developing and securing gifts (outright and pledged) of $25,000+ for assigned schools and colleges, special programs and projects, and new initiatives and campaigns. This includes managing a portfolio of 100-125, and identifying prospects to determine their potential as donors through strategic cultivation and well-tried solicitations in the tri-state area and other related regions as assigned. Closing and stewarding gifts for assigned prospects is also critical to the role. The Director of Major Gifts may also serve as UA/Development staff liaison to assigned volunteer groups, providing to them high-quality fundraising counsel, guidance and assistance.

Requirements

BA plus 3-5 years in advancement or a related field, preferably in higher education and be passionate about building relationships with donors, alumni, parents and friends. The Director, Major Gifts will have track record that demonstrates solid fundraising results and demonstrated success soliciting and closing major gifts and have demonstrated success in working closely with a Dean or senior leader of an organization, as well as experience working with groups comprising prominent corporate and community volunteers and alumni.

Valid driver's license and access to reliable auto for travel related to position accountabilities

The successful candidate for this role will be intellectually curious, possess a passion for the value of Catholic higher education, and be able to translate the priorities of faculty and academic leadership into a compelling philanthropic vision. The successful candidate must also be able to balance collaboration with the team with expectations as an individual fundraising contributor.
